Here’s a link for an easy to build compost bin. And no, dog poop cannot be used.
Here’s a list of 163 things that can be composted

No dog poo!!!!!
I just used an old plastic garbage can.
Drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage, and start throwing crap in. Old flowers from the kitchen, fruit/veggie scraps from dinner, used coffee grounds, newspapers, pizza boxes, junk mail (minus the plastic parts), hedge and lawn trimmings, etc. No meats, no dairy, no eggs, and no human/animal waste.
The easiest way is just to throw everything in. It will take a long time (~1 year), but it will all dissolve away. Or, you can take the time to water it, turn it, and put in things in proper order (greens, browns, spacers, etc), and it will turn into rich dirt in a matter of 6 weeks to 2 months.
